Why is Early Treatment So Important?

Orthodontics does more than make a pretty smile – it contributes to your overall health. We can enhance your smile at any age, but there is definitely an optimal time to begin treatment with us to ensure the best results and cost the least amount of money and time.

Do You Have a Child Near the Age of 7?

Of course if the first signs of orthodontic problems occur before the age of 7, we should see your child right away. However, all children benefit from a thorough exam at our office by at least the age of 7. It may not be necessary to start treatment right away, but we will be able to anticipate the optimal time to begin treatment.

Early Treatment for Bite Problems

Bite problems (malocclusions) are caused by misaligned teeth or jaws. They can be more than just aesthetically improved, prompt treatment can help you prevent tooth decay caused by difficulty brushing and flossing. Crowded teeth are more difficult to clean and can affect the way you smile, chew, and feel about your smile.

Other reasons to call our office as soon as possible for your free exam are:

  • Prevent your openbite to cause tongue-thrusting habits and speech impediments.
  • Prevent any protruding teeth from accidentally chipping.
  • Crossbites can result in unfavorable growth and uneven tooth wear.
